ZINQ® Fix receives the national technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung) from Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik

At the beginning of February 2017, ZINQ received the national technical approval from Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik (DIBt) for the zinc coating repair system ZINQ® Fix.

It is a plaster consisting of a 80 micrometer thick zinc laminate on a 25 micrometer thin adhesive, which can be applied for the repair or local reinforcement of zinc coatings in a simple manner on galvanized parts.

The first approval of a repair system for zinc coatings includes applications of ZINQ® Fix on components that are conventional batch-galvanized in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1461, thin-film batch-galvanized (microZINQ®) in accordance with AbZ Z-30.11.-60, continuously galvanized in accordance with DIN EN 10346 and spray-galvanized according DIN EN ISO 2063. The field of application of ZINQ® Fix has been defined for environments up to corrosivity category C3, which, with a few exceptions, covers the entire federal german territory.

ZINQ® Fix is a versatile tool for quick and effective repairs due to the easy handling and the possibility of individual cutting of the zinc plaster. In addition, a homogeneous zinc layer is applied in a defined thickness, in contrast to standard methods such as zinc dust color, where the color is applied manually, which is inevitably accompanied by variations in the applied zinc layer thickness. Because of the homogeneous gas-tight zinc layer and the conductive adhesive the system provides a high local corrosion protection plus cathodic protection of steel surfaces. Numerous tests - both in laboratory and in natural weathering at several locations under the supervision of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing have confirmed the durability of the zinc plaster. In addition, ZINQ® Fix is characterized by a natural weathering behavior, that means, the zinc plaster adapts optically to its surface over time, whereby negative effects, as they are repeatedly seen as striking color spots when using zinc dust color on galvanized components, be avoided.

With the approval of ZINQ® Fix the technology provider and licensor in the hot dip galvanizing industry ZINQ® Technologie once again proves its role as an innovation driver in the field of hot dip galvanizing.

ZINQ® Fix is available as a round patch or as a tape.
